INTRODUCTION The breech presentation occurs when fetal buttocks or 1 lower extremities present into maternal pelvis . Infants born after breech presentation have increased perinatal mor tality and high risk of neonatal 2 complications . The management of breech presentation in term pregnancy is highly controversial. It varies among different institutions or even clinicians 3 in same institution . Prematurity is the commonest cause of breech presentation, The incidence of breech is 6% at term. Breech presentation is associated with high incidence of operative delivery, either due to the cause which leads to the breech presentation, fetal 4 distress or fear of stucking the aftercoming head . Perinatal mortality and morbidity depends upon the mode of delivery. There is an in ongoing controversy while making the decision about their mode of delivery, either to go for trial of labour or plan elective cesarean section. Keeping the objective of better fetal outcome under consideration, this study has been conducted so as to make better choice.

متن کاملPlanned caesarean section versus planned vaginal birth for breech presentation at term: a randomised multicentre trial. Term Breech Trial Collaborative Group.
BACKGROUND For 3-4% of pregnancies, the fetus will be in the breech presentation at term. For most of these women, the approach to delivery is controversial. We did a randomised trial to compare a policy of planned caesarean section with a policy of planned vaginal birth for selected breech-presentation pregnancies. METHODS At 121 centres in 26 countries, 2088 women with a singleton fetus in ...

BACKGROUND The Term Breech Trial compared the safety of planned cesarean and planned vaginal birth for breech presentations at term. The combined outcome of perinatal or neonatal death and serious neonatal morbidity was found to be significantly lower among babies delivered by planned cesarean section. In this study we conducted a cost analysis of the 2 approaches to breech presentations at del...
